Assin District CHRAJ recorded 124 cases last year

Assin Foso (C/R), May 29, GNA – The Assin District Directorate of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) disposed of 109 cases out of 124 recorded in 2004. Mr Osei Tutu-Mensah, District Director told the Ghana News Agency at Assin Foso that 68 of the cases were family related out of which 39 were about child neglect.

He said property related cases were 22 while the rest were about administrative injustice.

The District Director said the Commission had decided to embark on outreach programmes since many people thought CHRAJ did not have adequate powers to enforce its rulings, hence their unwillingness to send their cases there for settlement. “The outreach programme will help to correct this misconception,” he stated.
