Two state owned media institutions, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and the Ghana News Agency (GNA) will undergo massive reform as part of government?s plan to improve the service delivery of the Public Sector under the Public Sector Reform Programme.
In an interview, minister of state in charge of public sector reforms, Paa Kwesi Ndoum says the move to improve the service delivery of the two media institutions was part of a broader service sector reform programme which included six other government assisted institutions.
Dr Ndoum says 20 other public institutions including the passport office and the driver vehicle license authority (DVLA) among others will also undergo reform.
The minister also disclosed that the main aim of the public sector reform programme is to improve service delivery in public institutions to increase productivity and efficiency of the sector.
He says the public sector reforms would also include the three arms of government- the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary.
On the issue of the current controversy surrounding the stepping aside of the executive director of the energy commission, Kofi Asante, Dr Nduom says more work will have to be carried out into the general operations of public commissions and boards in the country and the proper outlines of their duties and conditions of service.
He says this will ensure consistency and equity in the operations of public boards and commissions.
