Man jailed 12 years for defiling his 11-year old stepdaughter

Kumasi, May 19, GNA – A Kumasi Circuit Court has sentenced a 45-year old farmer at Akomadan, Kwabena Oppong to 12 years imprisonment for defiling his 11-year old stepdaughter. He pleaded guilty to the offence.

Police Chief Inspector Evelyn Addo told the court that the accused is married to the mother of the victim and that they all live at Akomadan in the Offinso District but in separate houses. She said on May 7 the mother sent the girl to take food to him. When the victim got to the house, the stepfather asked her to take the food to his room. The accused followed the girl to the room and forcibly had two rounds of sex with her after which he warned her never to mention it to anybody.

The mother of the victim detected blood running down her thighs the following morning and upon questioning, she narrated her ordeal to her. 19 May 05
