NGO supports women with credit to store grains

Dalun, (N/R), May 17, GNA- The Community Life Improvement Programme (CLIP), a Danish NGO involved in food security, has provided 36 million cedis to 150 women to stockpile 300 bags of grains against the lean season.

The NGO supplied the women with jute sacks and chemicals for the treatment of the grains.

Dr Abubakr Al-Hassan, Chairman of the Ghanaian Danish Communities Association (GDCA), said this at the 21st Annual General Meeting of the association at Dalun.

He said CLIP also provided 14 hand-dug wells with 10 of them fitted with pumps for some communities in the Karaga and Yendi districts where the guinea worm is endemic.

The NGO assisted women in Yendi, Gushegu and Karaga districts with credit to undertake income-generating activities to support their families.

Dr Al-Hassan said CLIP was working with 10 communities to construct household latrines.
