Mpasaso, (Ash), May 17, GNA – Mr Stephen Kwaku Balado Manu, Member of Parliament for Ahafo-Ano South, has released 21 million cedis from his share of the MP’s Common Fund for the provision of solar power to the Mpasaso Health Centre.
Part of the amount would go into the repair of the broken down solar powered refrigerator that the centre was using. Nana Tabiri Gyansah 111, Omanhene of Mpasaso Traditional Area, spoke to the GNA in an interview and commended the MP for his swift intervention.
He said lack of electricity since establishment of the centre in 1984 had been a great obstacle to effective health care delivery services in the area.
Nana Gyansah said the situation had often compelled the centre to store immunisation vaccines at Mankranso, a distance of about 30 kilometres, and to pick them up every morning.
He appealed to the government to expedite work on provision of electricity to the Mpasaso and its surrounding communities as planned under the Self-Help Electrification Project (SHEP) four. Nana Gyansah said the people have already raised funds to purchase and erect a number of low tension poles in readiness for the project. 17 May 05
