National service scheme to pay personnel regularly

Kumasi, May 12, GNA- Mr Kwesi Quainoo, Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the National Service Scheme, has assured personnel of the Service of efforts being made by the Scheme to pay their monthly allowances. He said the recent delay in the payment of the allowances was due to a technical problem.

Mr Quainoo gave the assurance at an orientation workshop for 2,000 final-year students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi.

He said the ultimate objective of the scheme was to expose the personnel to the policies of government and provide skilled manpower at the district assemblies, health, educational and private sectors. Mr Quainoo warned prospective service personnel against self-posting, evading of postings and desertion of duty, which he said, would affect their employment in the public service. Some of the students raised concern about the inadequate service allowances and the undue delay in payment.
