NCCE quizzes district assemblies on constitution

Assin Fosu (C/R), May 09, GNA – The Upper Denkyira District and Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District assemblies have qualified for the semi finals of an inter-zone districts quiz competition organized by the Central Regional Secretariat of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Assin Fosu.

The quiz competition, which was based on the constitution, decentralization and functions of assembly members, formed part of the activities marking the constitutional week celebration in the region. The two assemblies edged out the Assin North and Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa assemblies.

The Upper Denkyira District Assembly, placed first with 25 points, the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District Assembly came second with 22 points and the Assin North District Assembly came third with 17.

The Asikuma/Odoben/Brakwa assembly failed to turn up for the contest. Mr Alphonsus Arthur, the Deputy Regional Director of the NCCE, said the keenly contested event was an indication that the contestants were abreast with issues and aware of their roles as assembly members. He commended the district secretariat of the NCCE for its organizational skills, which he said contributed to the success of the competition.
