Carpenter jailed for stealing goat

Mankranso (Ash), May 6, GNA – The Mankranso magistrate court has sentenced an 18-year-old carpenter of Mmoframfadwene cottage, near Tepa to 18 months’ imprisonment for stealing a goat valued at 300,000 cedis. Robert Kudjo pleaded guilty.

Police Chief Inspector Prosper Yao Aheto, prosecuting, told the court that complainant, Gyato Grumah, had a flock of livestock at the cottage.

He said on April 30, this year, Grumah heard an unusual noise only to come out to see Kudjo bolting with one of the goats. Chief Inspector Aheto said the accused was seen at Tepa with the goat in an attempt to sell it.

Upon interrogation after his arrest by the police, admitted stealing the animal.
