Paying last Respects

Thousands of people from all walks of life yesterday continued to gather at the Manhyia Palace to pay their last respects to the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II.

Among the dignitaries who filed past the body as it lay in state were the Presidential candidate of NPP, Mr. J A. Kuffour, the PNC Presidential candidate, Dr. John Mahama, the Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, and members of diplomatic corps.

Also at the palace to pay their last respect to the departed King were members of the Ghana Bar Association, the Free Masons and Amanhene from Berekum, Drobo and Sampa in Brong Ahafo.

There was also delegation from Moshie Chief of Burkina Faso.

In a tribute, Mr. J A Kuffour, describe the late Otumfuo as true father and king who stood for peace, justice, progress and development and whose departure will be a great loss not only to Asanteman and Ghana but to Africa as whole.
