UNICEF provides bicycles for school girls to facilitates movement

Zabzugu, (N/R), May 3, GNA – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has donated 185 bicycles to primary and junior secondary school girls who commute long distances to school in the Zabzugu/Tatale District to attend classes on time and on a regular basis. Mr. Ivan Gam, District Coordinating Director, who presented the bicycles on behalf of UNICEF to the District Education Directorate for distribution to the girls, thanked UNICEF for the gesture. He pleaded with parents of the girls to allow them to use the bicycles for the purpose for which they were provided.

Alhaji Mohammed Abdul-Rahman Shani, District Director of Education, who received the bicycles, commended UNICEF and said it had been one of the giant supporters of education in the District. He urged UNICEF to continue to assist the girls till the full benefits of education were realised in the District.
