Sunyani April 30, GNA – First year students of the Catholic University College at Fiapre, near Sunyani on Friday launched 92 memoirs they had written at a ceremony on campus.
Professor Kathleen Feely, Communications and Language Skills lecture at the University, who initiated the writing of the memoirs said the initiative was to encourage students to write about themselves and to share their experiences in life with the general public. The writing of the memoirs, which formed part of the students’ practical work, was to help improve the writing and communication skills of the students, she said.
The University don said memories were very important in one’s life as it helped in reflecting and reminding the person to change or to continue from the past.
Professor Feely said the memoirs would be kept in the university campus for a week to enable the general public to read them before being handed over to the owners for future references.
She urged interested members of the public to visit the college to read the wonderful performances of the students.
Launching the memoirs, Dr Kofi Braimah, a senior lecturer at the University advised the students not to end their writing skills on the memoirs but to be more creative to come out with more of such scripts. “Memoirs are very important since they give account of one’s life and educate the public on the challenges in life”, he said. The 92 books, each with six chapters, contain the pictures of the authors, their background and their personal experiences.
