Magistrate Court fines farmer for assault

Sekondi April 26, GNA- A Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday imposed a fine of 300,000 cedis on a 39-year-old farmer, Isaac Dontoh for assault.

Dontoh who pleaded guilty would serve three months imprisonment in hard labour in default.

The court also ordered the accused to pay 300,000 cedis as compensation to the complainant, Mr Kwesi Appiah or serve six months imprisonment in hard labour.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Philip Obeng, said on February 17 this year, Mr Appiah was insulting his daughter for going out without his consent.

He said in the process the accused who was passing by, questioned the rational behind the action of the complainant. Mr Appiah became furious over the interference and engaged in a quarrel with the accused. Sgt Obeng said the Dontoh later went to the work place of the complainant and assaulted him, leading to his arrest.
