Accra, April 19, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra on Tuesday for Jakarta, Indonesia, to attend the Afro-Asian Summit, which opens on April 22.
Foreign Minister, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is attending the Ministerial Conference that precedes the two-day Summit, Mr Kwabena Agyepong, Presidential Spokesperson told newsmen at the Kotoka International Airport.
He said President Kufuor would also attend the 50th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, which gave birth to the Non-Aligned Movement. Ambassador Daniel K. Osei, Secretary to the President, Mr Agyapong and other senior officials at the Presidency, accompanied President Kufuor.
Mr Agyepong said the Summit would discuss the need for fair trade concerning developing countries as well as using more peaceful means for conflict resolution across the globe.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Patrick Kwasi Acheampong, the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Seth Obeng, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ibrahim Omar and some members of the Diplomatic Corps were at the airport to see President Kufuor off.
