500 million cedis community clinic inaugurated

Manso-Ankam (Ash), April 17, GNA -A 500 million-cedi community clinic built by the people of Manso-Ankam and the Amansie West District Assembly to cater for the health needs of the people has been inaugurated at a durbar at Manso-Ankam. The block has wards, offices, store and nurses’ quarters and toilet facilities.

Speaking at the function, Mr Kofi Krah Mensah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Amansie West, said it was the policy of the government to make health care affordable to the people throughout the country. He appealed to the people in the area to take advantage of the clinic to improve their health conditions. He asked the people to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) by paying their premium.

The acting District Chief Executive, Mr Ben Kwakye-Adeefe, said the district assembly is putting up more clinics in the district to improve health delivery. He appealed to the people to ensure regular maintenance of the block.

Mr Joseph Adomako, the District Director of Health Services, commended the assembly and the people of Manso-Ankam for their communal spirit and urged them to keep it up.

He announced that, as from March 2005, all pregnant women who attend antenatal clinics would not pay any fee as part of government’s initiative to improve health care delivery. Mr Adomako asked the people to report all health cases first to the clinic.
