Teenager punished for stealing personal effects

Mankranso (Ash), April 14, GNA – The Mankranso magistrate court has ordered a 17-year-old teenager to spend three years in the Mamprobi Borstal Institute in Accra for stealing items valued at about 800,000 cedis belonging to a couple at Sabronum in the Ahafo-Ano South district. The court also ordered Kwaku Mensah, father of the boy who abandoned him since his infancy, to provide his needs and pay him regular visits since the father caused the son’s criminality.

Police Inspector Edwin Dei-Offei, prosecuting, told the court that on February 3 the boy, taking advantage of the absence of Mr Samuel Boadu and his wife who had gone to farm, broke into their room. Luck run out of him when the couple caught him right in the act of packing some of their personal effects into a bag.
