Amoma (B/A) April 13 GNA – Residents of Amoma, a farming community in the Jema District of Brong Ahafo Region are contributing 1,000 cedis monthly towards a number of development projects.
With the exception of students, every citizen above the age of 18 years contributes an amount of 1,000 cedis at the end of every month to the Community Project Implementing Committee.
Nana Peter Baffoe, Assemblyman of the area, told the GNA at Amoma that a recent census conducted in the town revealed that there were about 4,500 citizens, who fell within the rateable age group.
Nana Baffoe said the community would construct a Police station in the area to help to combat crime and provide drains to check erosion. He expressed grave concern about the poor standard of education in the area and said the community leaders had decided assist teachers of Amoma to arrange excursions for the students to learn from other areas. The Assemblyman stressed the need for parents to invest part of their resources in educating their children.
He urged the youth of the area to be law-abiding and to respect people in authority, saying all the people should forge ahead in unity and undertake programmes that would enable them to improve upon their living standards.
Nana Baffoe appealed to the non-resident citizens of the area to visit home regularly to offer support towards the ongoing development programmes.
