Churches asked to help create jobs for youth

Kumasi, April 10, GNA – A clergyman has advised churches not to be concerned with winning more people to their fold but should consider exploring avenues for the creation of employment opportunities for the youth.

Bishop J.N.K. Boateng, founder of the Gospel Revival Church of Christ, said the ability of church members to contribute to development of the church and nation depends on how resourceful they are.

He was addressing the closing session of a five-day quarterly programme of the church held at Sofoline in Kumasi on Sunday under the theme, “Come Unto Jesus for Salvation”.

Bishop Boateng appealed to churches to evolve a programme under which they would be able to acquire land for farming. He said such a move was vital since with farms, churches could easily mobilise the youth and train them on modern farming skills while creating employment for them.

Bishop Boateng said since the unemployment problem was colossal, it was also time rich people invested in small-scale industries.

He reminded the affluent that their wealth would be of no significance to society if they failed to share with others by way of creating jobs for them.
