Persons trained in conflict resolution urged to be transparent

Twifo Aboabo (C/R), April 7, GNA – Mr Prince Arhin, Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira (THLD) district co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), on Wednesday urged persons involved in conflict resolution in communities to be transparent and impartial in the discharge of their duties.

He also tasked them to refrain from politicising issues and step up public education on the need for peaceful co-existence. Mr Arhin made the call at a day’s workshop on “peace maintenance” for 60 conflict resolution trainees, comprising chiefs, assembly members and opinion leaders, drawn from Aboabo, Ayaase, Mampoma, Kotokye and Agona at Aboabo.

It was organized by NADMO in collaboration with the Praso area development programme of World Vision, Ghana, and was aimed at updating the skills and knowledge of participants in settling conflicts and disputes.

Mr Arhin expressed the hope that the knowledge they had acquired would help them ensure the amicable settlement of many cases in their areas.

Mr Dan Yorke, District Director of National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), said the objective of the workshop was to empower trainees to settle conflicts and disputes in their communities. It was also to ensure a smooth take-over of facilities provided them by World Vision, when the organization winds up its activities in the area.

The World Vision, which has been operating in the area for many years, has assisted the communities to put up clinics, schools and potable water by constructing boreholes.
