Kumasi, April 7, GNA – Ebenezer Kwame Boadi, businessman, 34, was on Wednesday remanded by a circuit court in Kumasi over a 60-million cedi dud cheque he issued to the Unique Trust Financial Services. He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on Tuesday, April 12. Police Chief Inspector Kuffuor Boateng told the court presided over by Mr Ernest Yao Obimpeh that Boadi who deals in caterpillar spare parts applied for and was granted 180 million cedis loan by the Trust. He, however, failed to comply with the terms of payment and went into hiding.
The prosecutor said the accused was later located by a staff of the company and when confronted apologised and issued a cheque with a face value of 60 million cedis for part payment of the loan. When the cheque was presented at the Barclays Bank on August 30, last year, it was dishonoured.
Chief Inspector Boateng said the accused could not give any tangible explanation for the rejection of the cheque and the case was reported to the police.
