Ho, April 1, GNA- The Police has arrested 31 suspected criminals including a 15-year old girl, in a night swoop at the precincts of the main Lorry Park in Ho.
Mr Stephen Andoh-Kwofie, Volta Regional Police Commander who made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were seized from some of the suspects. He said the Police acted on reports that some hoodlums lurked around the station, especially behind kiosks at night to smoke wee and also harass people.
Mr Andoh-Kwofie said the action was to pre-empt any organised gangsters akin to groups that attack innocent people in some regions. All the suspects have been granted a 10 million-cedi bail each when they appeared before a Ho Circuit Court and are to reappear on April 14.
He said a special Anti Armed Robbery Squad known as the “Volta Hawks”, had commenced patrols to check armed robbery in the region.
