Court grants 140 million- cedi bail to seven accused persons

Cape Coast March 31, GNA – The Cape Coast Circuit Court on Thursday granted a bail of 20 million cedis each to be justified to seven accused persons, who are standing trial for allegedly stealing 137.7 million cedis belonging to their employer.

John Amonkwando, Onasis Appiah, Matilda Quansah, Frederick Ansah, Nana Amissah and Sarah Sam, and Dinah Abban who pleaded not guilty would reappear on April 14.

Prosecuting, Police Chief inspector Hope Azasoo, told the court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah, that on March 29 this year, Amonkwando and Appiah reported to the police that thieves had raided a Mobile Filling Station where they work and made away with unspecified amount of money.

He said police suspected a foul play and thereby arrested the seven employees.

Inspector Azasoo said the safe were the money was kept was not broken into.

A note which read: ” next time use a good locker and also change your watchman, we will be back, watch out”, was found at the scene of the theft.
