People in leadership positions must lead unblemished lives

Takoradi, March 29,GNA- The Right Reverend Martin Darko, Catholic Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi has asked politicians and others in authority to strive to avoid tendencies that could undermine national unity. Rev. Darko, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi on Tuesday said the widespread suffering and deprivation in society were the result of greed, selfishness and refusal by people in authority and some Christians to sacrifice a little for others.

“There is human suffering caused by injustice in all forms around us, and most of them caused by people we call Christians,” he said, emphasising that some Christians “use the title Christian as a convenient label for corrupt practices”.

Bishop Darko advised church leaders to lead exemplary lives and not to indulge in vices that could lead the people astray.
