Koforidua, March 25, GNA – Most Rev Charles Palmer-Buckle, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua, has appealed to Christians to emulate the service and self-denial of Jesus, even in the period of suffering and betrayal, in order to promote peace and order in the country.
He said in spite of the betrayal and denial of Jesus by his disciples, “whose character represented each one of us, Jesus still loves and forgives us our sins if only we repent and obey his commandments.”
Preaching at a Church Service to mark the Last Super at the St George’s Cathedral in Koforidua on Thursday, he urged Ghanaians to exhibit self-denial and sacrifice to their families, neighbours and country to promote the peace, unity and development of the country.
Bishop Palmer-Buckle referred to God’s instructions to the Israelites on the eve of the Passover and said, “It is only by obeying his commands that our sacrifices and service would be pleasing to him.” “God loves and overlooks the sinfulness of every person and wants us also to show similar unconditional love one another.” He led the congregation to pray for peace, understanding and reconciliation in the country.
