Sunyani, March 25, GNA – The Rev Edward Appiah of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Sunyani on Friday called on Ghanaians to shed negative attitudes as the celebration of Easter affords people the opportunity to turn a new leaf.
He said as Christians celebrated the occasion, it was incumbent on all to reconcile “with our families, friends, communities and political opponents as Christ died on the Cross to link us again with God”. Rev Appiah was preaching on Good Friday, the day celebrated to mark the arrest and crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ to redeem mankind from sin.
“God wants peace and we must therefore eschew animosity, envy, litigation and other unproductive attitudes that do not help our own and national development.”
The Reverend Minister advised political parties to learn to live in harmony and understanding since they are all poised for the development of the country.
Rev Appiah asked the youth to avoid unhelpful activities during the Easter festivities since it was not an occasion for beach-going, alcoholism and acts that distanced people from God. At the Wesley Cathedral of the Methodist Church, Mr. Kwasi Ankamah Yeboah, a student at the Trinity Theological College in Accra, urged the congregation to re-examine their lives and lead lives that would merit the blood that Christ shed on the Cross. In a sermon, Mr Yeboah, urged Christians to treasure the death of Christ and change to lead worthy lives for the development of their families, communities and the country. He noted that Christ suffered a fast-track trial and execution and the suffering that he went through “should goad us on to do what pleases God”.
