Two students jailed for stealing

Takoradi March 23, GNA – Takoradi Circuit Court “A” on Wednesday sentenced Stanley Kwame Dumashie, a student of the Takoradi High School and Ernest Appiah, a student of Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI) to 24 months imprisonment in hard labour each for conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry and stealing.

Dumashie and Appiah, both 18, pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joe Hedidor told the court that Esther Asare, the complainant, had a store at Takoradi Air force Barracks where the accused persons also lived.

He said on March 8 this year, when Asare opened her store in the morning, she detected that it had been broken into and assorted goods including sardines, corner beef, milk, canned beer and malt drink had been stolen.

Chief Inspector Hedidor said the complainant conducted her own investigations, which revealed that the accused persons stole the items. He said the complainant reported the incident to the authorities at the Takoradi Air force Station who arrested the accused persons and handed them over to the Police.

Chief Inspector Hedidor said during interrogation, the accused persons admitted the offence and disclosed that they had stolen from the store on two previous occasions.
