Barima Safrotwie Sarpong named as Juasohene

Accra, March 22, GNA – The National House of Chiefs has unanimously decided that the name of Barima Safrotwie Sarpong II be entered in the National Register of chiefs as Juasohene.

A statement signed by Mr Eddie Yaw Kodom, Senior Registrar of Juaben Traditional Council, copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday said the House took the decision at its plenary meeting held in Kumasi on March 15.

The statement said the decision followed the acceptance of the Standing Committee of the House, which considered the recommendations of the Ashanti Region House of Chiefs to the National House of Chiefs. Another statement signed by Nana Oware Kankam, Adontenhene of Juaso, said with this development, the protracted chieftaincy dispute, which had engulfed Juaso over the past 15 years, was now over.
