Past poly students offer to make houses cheaper

Accra, March 8, GNA – The Polytechnic Association of Construction Students Alumni (PACONAS) on Tuesday offered to help make housing cheaper and urged the Minister of Works and Housing to use student groups in the sector.

A statement signed in Accra by Zoroaster Peter Adegah, Press and Publicity Secretary of the Alumni, said it believed that houses could be built at about 8,000 dollars.

“We members of PACONAS want to urge him (Minister of Works and Housing) that it will be possible but he should involve student groups to contribute in their various capacities.

It said contractors and consultants would continue to make the cost of building very expensive because they want to make (big) profits at the expense of their clients.

“This association has been wrestling with the problem of finding employment for its members and attachment for students and believe that given the opportunity we will help government to provide housing for workers at an affordable cost.”
