Two persons remanded over theft

Kumasi, March 5, GNA-Bawa Musah, 50, porter and Alex Owusu, 26, a carpenter, were on Thursday remanded by a Kumasi circuit court for stealing 11,500 blocks worth 57 million cedis. The two, who pleaded not guilty to the charge will re-appear before the court on March 18.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector J.K. Afful told the court, presided over by Mr Ernest Yao Obimpeh that in 2003, the complainant, Ali Issa, the Managing Director of Ali Issa Construction Limited acquired a land from the Bantamahene for a project.

The complainant deposited 12,500 blocks on the land but could not continue with the project because there was a law suit against him. On January 15, this year, the complainant visited his plot only to realise 11,500 out of the 12,500 blocks were stolen. He therefore, reported the theft to the police for investigation to bring the culprits to book.

Police investigations led to the arrest of the accused who had used some of the blocks to put up structures.
