Welder in court for defrauding six people

Cape Coast, March 4, GNA – Robert Slippe, a 48-year-old wielder who duped six persons of monies totalling 13,550,000 cedis and eluded the police for four years, was on Thursday granted 10 million cedis bail with a surety to be justified by a circuit court at Cape Coast. Slippe, who pleaded not guilty, is to re-appear on Thursday March 17.

Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court that Slippe has a workshop at Siwidu, a suburb of cape Coast, and makes metal containers for sale.

Between 2001 and 2004 Slippe collected various sums of money ranging between 1.2 and 3.5 million cedis from customers under the pretext of making containers for them.

He said efforts by his victims to have their monies refunded proved futile until he was arrested for failing to report a motor accident he was involved in in February.
