For the second day running, gangsters have held residents of parts of Kumasi to ransom. On Tuesday, an unidentified group of gangsters unleashed terror on residents of Ashanti New Town, a suburb of Kumasi.

As part of measures to contain the gangsters, patrols in the city have been intensified. Mr. Gyeabour expressed the hope that the physical deployment of the security officers would help bring the situation under control. He described as unfortunate the decision by some people to take the law into their own h ands.
