Labourer jailed for stealing mobile phone

Sekondi March 1,GNA- A Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Monday sentenced Kenneth Adama, a labourer, to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a mobile phone valued at 800,000 cedis. The accused pleaded not guilty to stealing.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Adam Okyere said the accused stole the phone at about 1700 hours on February this year when the complainant Ebenezer Ghamson, left it in a taxi. Sergeant Okyere said Ghamson who lived in the same house with the accused asked him about the phone the following day but Adama denied any knowledge of it. He said Ghamson reported the theft of the phone to the driver of the taxi who said he saw the phone in the possession of the accused. Sergeant Okyere said during investigations, the phone was retrieved from the accused
