Pupils in Akwatia sensitised on HIV/AIDS

Akwatia, Feb 23, GNA – About 150 pupils of the Polite Preparatory and Junior Secondary, Al-Furquan Preparatory and Islamic primary schools have been sensitised on the dangers of the HIV/AIDS menace at Akwatia. The programme, which was organized by the Ghana National Commission on Children (GNCC), aimed at creating awareness among the pupils. The Eastern Regional Co-ordinator of the GNCC, Mr Anthony Dontoh, said there was the need for every child in the country to get the protection, survival, growth and sound development needed.

He cautioned the pupils to abstain from premarital sex and called on them not to succumb to peer pressure, otherwise they risked being infected with the HIV/AIDS.

Mr Prince Lukeman of the Reproductive Health Advocacy Network, Akwatia, called on the youth to show compassion for people living with HIV/AIDS.
