18-year-old Wee dealer remanded in prison custody

Nkawkaw, Feb. 23, GNA – A Magistrate Court at Nkawkaw, presided over by Mr William Boampong, has remanded an 18-year-old man into prison custody for peddling Indian hemp on the compound of the Nkawkaw Secondary School.

King Sarfo Bruce, a former student of the School, whose plea was not taken, would re-appear on April 4.

Prosecuting, Detective Police Inspector Tay Agbozo, told the Court that Bruce, who was dismissed from the School in September 2004, for poor academic performance and misconduct, returned to construct a ghetto on the school compound where he sold Indian hemp to students.

He said on February 15, this year, the school authorities organized a swoop on the ghetto where Bruce and three students were arrested. The prosecutor said when a search was conducted, a quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and two wrappers were found in a bag belonging to Bruce.

He said the three students, Daniel Omare Marfo, 19, Justice Asiamah, 17 and Nelson Antwi, 17 have been granted police inquiry bail.
