Cape Coast, Feb. 23 GNA- A circuit court at Cape Coast, presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah on Wednesday granted William Arthur Thompson, a 60-year-old businessman 20 million cedis bail, for allegedly threatening to kill one Mr Boniface Kwame Hammond with a cutlass.
He pleaded not guilty and would reappear on Wednesday March 9 Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court that, Mr Hammond, who lives at Aboom a suburb of Cape Coast has a piece of land situated around the J.P Brown street, also in Cape Coast, where the accused also lives.
He said on October 7 last year at about 11.30 hrs, Mr. Hammond visited his land and saw the accused weeding on it and asked him who had given him permission to weed the land.
Chief inspector Amonoo alleged that Thompson became offended and threatened to kill Mr Hammond with the cutlass he was using, and sensing danger, left the scene and reported the matter to the police. He said the police led Mr Hammond to the scene but the accused was not found until about 14 days later, when he was spotted around the police station and was arrested.
Inspector Amonoo said the accused was later granted a police enquiring bail and warned not to go back to the land but he defied the order and was therefore, arrested and after investigations he was charged with the offence.
