IRS exceeds revenue target in Birim South

Akim Oda, Feb.22, GNA- The Akim Oda District office of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), last year collected 4.2 billion cedis revenue as against the projected target of 3.3 billion cedis.

The District Manageress of the IRS, Ms Joana Mensah made this known at the district launch of the newly introduced Tax Stamp at Akim Oda on Monday.

The tax stamp is aimed at widening the tax net to include more people in the informal sector.

She said the success story, was as a result of the intensive tax education campaign mounted by the Service.

“We were in the field most of the time and sometimes mounted road blocks to check vehicle licence taxes from drivers”, she said Ms Mensah expressed optimism that with the introduction of the Tax Stamp and other programmes being put in place, the Service would improve upon its tax collection this year. 22 Feb. 05
