Farmer in court for threatening to kill wife

Asamakese, Feb. 22, GNA – The Asamankese Circuit Court had remanded a 25-year-old farmer in prison custody for allegedly threatening to kill his wife and stepson.

Kwasi Akyea pleaded guilty for threatening to shoot his wife, Ama Korantemaa, but not guilty to threatening to shoot stepson, Yaw Appiah. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector, Alhassan Amadu told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that on February 14, this year, Akyea threatened to kill the wife and Appiah at ‘Atta ne Atta’, a farming village near Ogyade, in the Eastern Region.

The prosecutor said during the first week of February, Akyea accused his stepson of stealing his eggs for which he threatened both the mother and the son that he would kill both of them if the stealing continued.

On February 14, Akyea informed his father about the incidence and told him that he would kill his wife and the stepson over the thefts. He said the father who knew the accused had a cap gun and could execute his threat, went to the house and collected the gun. The prosecutor said the father found the gun loaded and therefore fired into the air after which he caused his son’s arrest and sent him to the Asamankese police station.
