REGSEC Band Dagbon Fire Festival

Feb. 21, 2005 — The Northern Regional Security Council REGSEC, has placed ban on the celebration of Bugum, Fire festival, in Dagbon of the Northern. A statement signed by the Regional Co-ordinating Director, Charles Abas said in view of the chieftaincy crisis in Dagbon, RECGSEC took the decision in the interest of peace and security in the area. It urged all stakeholders to abide by the order.

Speaking to Radio Justice on security measures put in place to forestall any misunderstanding, the Northern Regional Police Commander, ACP Ephraim Oko Brakatu said enough men have been dispatched to flash point areas, especially Yendi against any recalcitrant who will try to breach the peace. He urged all to co-operate with the security agencies to forestall any untoward act.
