Doctor granted bail for threatening to shoot businessman

Kumasi, Feb. 17, GNA – Nana Akwasi Appiah, a London-based medical practitioner, was on Monday granted a 30 million-cedi bail by a circuit court in Kumasi for threatening to shoot a businessman.

Dr Appiah, 67, pleaded not guilty to the charge and will re-appear before the court presided over by Mr Ernest Yao Obimpeh on March 14. Chief Inspector Regina Kesewaah told the court that on February 9, this year, at about 2200 hours, the complainant was driving his private car with registration number AS 9009 N from Kejetia to Tarkwa-Markro when the car clashed with that of the accused with registration number AS 9779 U, driven by one George Appiah.

Soon after the incident, the accused got out of his car and pulled out a registered silver pistol at the complainant, suspecting him to be an armed robber, the prosecutor told the court. Chief Inspector Kesewaah said a report was made to the police who arrested him for investigations.
