Workers’ Union greets new agric minister

Accra, Feb. 14, GNA – The General Agricultural Workers’ Union (GAWU) of the Trades Union Congress on Monday congratulated the new Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Ernest Debrah on his appointment and assured him of its support to ensure that Ghana pursued its policies on food security.

A statement signed by Mr Samuel Kangah, General Secretary, said the Union would also work together with the minister to forestall post-harvest losses that farmers faced almost every harvest season. “Ghana is an agricultural country and the majority of the working population are farmers. For us in the agricultural trade union, the plight of these farmers has been our concern.”

The union expressed the hope that the new Minister would make this concern a priority.
