Drunk driver killed in accident

Begoro, Feb 12, GNA – A drunk driver, Kwadwo Krofa, 28, died when a car he was driving at Begoro in the Fanteakwa District on Saturday, skid off the road somersaulting several times before crashing into a ditch.

Police Chief Inspector William Kwasi Nkrumah of the Begoro Police Station told the Ghana News Agency that Krofa sought permission from his Master to go and eat. Chief Inspector Nkrumah said unknown to the Master, Krofa rather drove to another funeral in the town and engaged in a drinking spree with friends. He said Krofa then drove the car recklessly with two friends overtaking vehicles but lost control in the process resulting in the accident.

Chief Inspector Nkrumah said the victims were rushed to the Koforidua Central Hospital where Krofa was pronounced dead soon on arrival. He said Kofi Adu, 25 and Ernest Opoku, 30, who were in the car on admission at the Hospital while the deceased had been buried after autopsy.
