Upper West elects Kuoro Limann to Council of State

Wa, Feb 08, GNA- The Upper West Regional electoral college on Tuesday elected Kuoro Kuri-Buktie Limann, Paramount chief of Gwollu Traditional Area in the Sissala West District, as the region’s representative on the Council of State.

He polled seven votes to beat his closest rival, Mr Paschal Baylon Dere, a 46-year old Agricultural Economist who had six votes. Kuoro Kyige Mumuni Dimbie, Paramount chief of the Galibaga Traditional Area in the Sissala East District, had two votes while Mrs Celestine Singsoma Bayor, a retired civil servant, got one vote. Brigadier-General Godfrey Naapie Guomil (RTD), Mr Edwin Chereanaa Daplaa, a retired civil servant, each failed to obtain any vote. The seventh contestant, Kuoro Ninia Doctawie, Paramount chief of the Zinni traditional Area in the Sissala West District, withdrew before balloting began and threw his weight behind Kuoro Limann.

Kuoro Limann, 61, who is the President of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs and a Wa-based legal practitioner, thanked the delegates for electing him. 08 Feb 05
