Botwe Determined To Pass Whistle Blowers Bill

Ghana?s Minister for Information, Mr Dan Botwe, has stated that his Ministry was going to pursue the Whistle Blowers Act and the Right to Information Bill vigorously for it to come into force this year.

He said that the Whistle Blowers Act and the Right of Information Bills are very important to the country. ?I promise that my Ministry is going to achieve that this year?, he added.

In an interview with ?The Evening News?, recently, Mr Botwe said that the Ministry had already made significant progress with regard to the two bills.

?The President has also talked about this bill and I believe we can achieve that target this year?, he added.

The Minister stated that when the bills are passed they would help in the fight against corruption. He explained that when the bills become law people would not be victimized by the security agencies for disclosing information. ?This is one of the main ingredients that can be used to fight corruption?, he said.

Mr Botwe said he believed he could meet his set target, adding the government should be ?naked? before his people. He explained that if he did not meet his target he would go back to the people and explain to them the circumstances which led to the situation.

?It is fortunate the country has a government which has started meeting his people to find out what their expectations are and the way forward.
