Teach the people some aspect of the law-Hagan

Winneba, Jan 31, GNA – A leading member of the Saint Paul’s Methodist Church at Winneba, Mr Sakyi Hagan, has called for the teaching of elementary or minor law in communities and.

He suggested that the National commission On Civic Education (NCCE) should be resourced to enable it to play an important role in the exercise.

Mr Hagan made the call at a one-day seminar organized by the church for 30 members of the men’s and women fellowships and the Youth Choir of the church at Winneba, under the theme, “Street law awareness and the girl Child”.

Mr Hagan said human rights activists and legal practitioners would be doing a great service to individuals if they thought the people certain basic laws, especially in the rural communities. He said NGOs that are engaged in human rights activities should form partnerships to promote their activities and appealed to law students and law lecturers to instil in the public some of the basic principles of human rights and child abuse.
