Kufuor confers with UN Secretary General

Abuja, Jan. 31, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday held talks with Mr Kofi Annan, UN Secretary General in Abuja.

The talks, held behind closed doors, were believed to centre on the socio-economic development of Ghana and the political instability within the West African Sub-Region.

President Kufuor is in Abuja to attend the Fourth Ordinary and the First Mid-Term Session of the Assembly of the African Union. The idea of the Mid-Term Session of the Assembly was proposed at the Ethiopia Summit held in July, last year.

It is primarily an opportunity to review the implementation of decisions and declarations adopted by African leaders at the July meetings as well as keep track of the various conflict situations on the Continent.
