NADMO cautions public against bush fire

Koforidua, Jan. 28, GNA – The Eastern Regional office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has embarked on an educational campaign on the dangers of bush and domestic fires. In a statement at Koforidua on Thursday signed by the Regional Co-ordinator, Mr S M Ahyiah, it said the programme included disaster preparedness tips to create public awareness.

It said this would enable them to take preventive measures to help reduce disaster.

The release advised the public to be cautious in the handling of fire during the dry season and appealed to District Assemblies to establish sub-committees on bush fires.

He said this would remind the people on the dangers of fires and stated that the sub committees should be empowered to sanction people who start fires indiscriminately.

It cautioned hunters, cigarette smokers, palm wine tapers and the public to be careful in the use of fire.
