GCB presents items to hospital

Atibie (E/R), Jan. 26, GNA – The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) on Tuesday presented four sets of Hewlet Packard computers and accessories, wheel chairs and aluminium structures worth 65 million cedis to the Kwahu Government Hospital at Atibie in the Kwahu South District. The presentation was in response to an appeal made by the hospital management during its 50th anniversary celebration last year, as part of the bank’s social responsibilities to communities in which it operates. Presenting the items, the Koforidua Area Manager of the bank, Mrs Christina Faakye, said as a “caring bank”, it was their responsibility to assist communities in which they operate to ensure cordial relationship between them.

She urged the hospital’s authorities to ensure judicious use of the items to serve the patients and for effective administration of the hospital.

The Medical Superintendent In-charge of the Hospital, Dr Isaac Richard Osabutey, who received the items, commended the bank for fulfilling its promise made during the celebration and assured that they would put the items, especially the computers into effective use to enhance the hospital’s administration.

He appealed to other individuals, organizations and philanthropists, who made similar promises during the anniversary to fulfil them to ensure smooth running of the hospital.

The District Co-ordinating Director, Mr Kwame Oppong, said the government was making frantic effort to enhance the people’s development and would come to their assistance to improve their living standards. He commended citizens from the area for their generosity towards the running of the hospital.

It would be recalled that, earlier this year, the acting Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Francis Osafo-Mensah, on behalf of President Kufuor, redeemed the pledge of a bus made during the anniversary to the hospital.
