Sawmill operator goes to jail for stealing

Nkawie (Ash), Jan. 26, GNA – The Nkawie magistrate court has sentenced a 26-year-old sawmill operator to 15 months’ imprisonment for causing damage, unlawful entry and stealing.

Nasiru Mumuni pleaded guilty to the charges.

Giving the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Joseph Gabienu, said at about 1630 hours on January 9, this year, the complainant, Yaw Boateng, a farmer who living at Tanoso, near Abuakwa, visited his cottage and detected that the doors to his rooms had been forced opened.

He said when Boateng entered his room, he detected that all his personal belongings valued at about 620,000 cedis had been stolen. Chief Inspector Gabienu said following a tip-off, Mumuni was arrested and when a search was conducted in his room, all the stolen items of the complainant were found and retrieved.
