Kumawu (Ash), Jan. 25, GNA – Mr Fosuaba Mensah-Banahene, Administrator of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), has stated that the Fund would not assist any school that does not adhere to academic discipline.
He said schools that riot, embark on unnecessary demonstrations and indulge in examination malpractices would not receive support from the Fund.
Mr Mensah-Banahene gave the hint when he handed over an 11,000 capacity water tanker bought at the cost of 520 million cedis to the Tweneboa Kodua Secondary School at Kumawu in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti on Monday.
The presentation of the tanker to the school is to alleviate the perennial water problem, which had faced the school over the years and which affected student’s academic work and enrolment.
He said the Fund would assist schools that worked hard in the academic fields, were disciplined and were in real need of assistance. Mr Mensah-Banahene called for proper maintenance of the vehicle, pointing out that it was only through this that the school could attract further assistance from the Fund.
He said now that the school was being upgraded into a model one, the Fund would provide it with facilities that were not included in the government’s programme.
Mr Joseph Kwasi Ahorvey, Headmaster of the school, who received the keys to the tanker, commended the government for upgrading the school.
He also thanked the Board of Trustees of the Fund for coming to the aid of the school and said since the school took delivery of the tanker, the water situation had improved considerably.
Mr Ahorvey appealed to the government to rehabilitate the one-and-a-half-kilometre road from Kumawu town to the school, which was in a very bad shape.
