Driver fined 1.5 million cedis for negligently causing harm

Tema, Jan. 16, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court “A” has fined a driver 1.5 million cedis for carelessly and negligently causing harm to two persons at Michel Camp.

George Abraham pleaded guilty and will go to jail for six months in default.

Prosecuting, DSP Robert Aganiba told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on September 4, the accused was driving a Nissan pick-up with registration number GV 319 F from Afariwa junction and on reaching a spot at Michel Camp: he veered onto the lane of an oncoming vehicle.

He said the driver of the oncoming Nissan bus with registration number AS 6051 N realising the impending accident, tried to avoid a head on collision, veered off the road and in the process hit the back of an LT bus, which had been parked and as a result two passengers were seriously injured.

DSP Aganiba said the injured were rushed to the Tema General Hospital where they were treated and discharged and after investigations, the accused was charged.
