Akuffo-Addo Defends JAK?s Nominations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nana Ado-Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, has defended President Kufuor?s ministerial nominations amidst varying debates on whether the president?s team is okay or not.

Top among the areas of public interest are the absence of former regional integration minister, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku as well as the swapping of former Education Minister, Kwadwo Baah Wiredu and former Finance Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo. Nana Akuffo-Addo who was retained, as foreign minister believes there?s no question about the team nominated by the president.

?It is the constitutional right of the president to decide where people should go and one should be ready when nominated?, he said.

There?ve been several complains about the fact the ministerial team does not represent gender or regional balance.

Nana Addo thinks that is not an issue that should be overstretched because the selection was done mainly on merits.

?I believe that the president has picked a good set of people who have very great potential and are experienced in managing issues of national affairs?, he said.
